Overview

In recent decades advances in information and technology, as well as changes in consumer behavior, have posed serious challenges to traditional business models in the entertainment and media industries. History has shown us that when companies fail to adapt and to find new, sustainable business models, the death of their business is inevitable. As we've learned this week, this is a business concept known as "Adapt or Die."

For our first assignment, you'll research an entertainment or media company that went out of business due to its failure to innovate. As an emerging industry leader, think about how their missteps can help inform the decisions you make and risks you take as you grow in your career.

Instructions

Fill out the template about a company that went out of business in the last 10 years.

Part A: Identify & Analyze

On the template provided, answer the following questions:

I. Name of the business that went out of business (Must specifically be within a sector of the entertainment and media industries)

II. Insert an image that represents the company (This can be a logo, photo of the company's storefront, or product that the company produced)

III. What year did the company go out of business/file for bankruptcy?

IV. What were the company's revenue streams at the time? (3-5 maximum sentences)

V. Using the Nexi Uni database, find the "company dossier" for the business and take a screenshot of their last recorded Annual Revenue figure.

VI. In 250 to 500 maximum words, based on your research and critical analysis, explain the missteps and reason(s) why the company went out of business.
