For many generations, it has been said that the United States is the land of opportunity. As reviewed in the textbook, one's social status is their position in a social group. American society often treats individuals based on their occupational status and/or their level of education.

Below are two videos. One is about wealth disparity and social class in the United States. The second is a look at what is happening globally. Please watch both and then answer the questions listed below.

1) What were 2 important things you learned from Robert Reich? Will this info change the way you think about our democracy? What could you personally do to make a difference? Be sure to vote? Become politically active on a local level? Help organize or attend local events on inequality? Something else?

2) Have you heard of micro lending before? List 3 things that you learned from this information and why they are important to know?
