Ever since his assistant resigned, Mr. Johnson Chan, the Packaging Manager of THE SPOONS Co., Ltd has been very busy. Mr. Johnson Chan handles filing and documentation and met visitors on his own. Susan is the receptionist receiving phone calls only.

(a) With reference to the theory of job enlargement, what should Mr. Chan do to encourage Susan if she feels bored with her job?

Mr. Chan sets a monthly packing target of 10,000 spoons to Mary, who is the supervisor managing spoon packaging. Mary thinks that if she works hard, she can achieve the target. Furthermore, an extra bonus of HK1,500 will be rewarded.

(d) Maria, Johnson's self-directed worker, does not need him to "babysit" her. He believes that she knows what to do and how to finish it on time. Based on McGregor's motivation theory, what type of worker is Maria in this situation?
