Background Information
In James 3:13-18, after a brief analysis of double-mindedness and fruit-bearing, you see guidance that says: "Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom" (New International Version). Such public demonstrations of your deeds are offered as examples of how others determine or gauge your legitimacy - it is not what you say that they "hear," but what you do. The same is true for organizations; corporate edicts of ethical policies and admonishes to promote customer service mean little when the leaders engage or promote behaviors with no regard for its ethicality.
