Alex is a 14-year-old student in the 9- grade. They receive resource room support for a specific learning disability in math and reading, and they struggle in school.
Peers tend to either ignore or make fun of Alex, and Alex responds by withdrawing or by becoming angry and verbally or physically attacking others.
Alex has been suspended twice this school year. Alex's parents want to help and have taken them to a therapist. Their English teacher is concerned because Alex's writing contains references about death and because they are increasingly isolated.
Alex spends time away from home and smoke pot by himself. After a big fight with your parents the other night, he said he wished he were never born.
There is a bridge near his house where he drink and smoke pot, and he have thought about jumping, but afraid he may just fall and become crippled for life.
