During the discussion with the research team, one of the relevant concepts that comes up is something called "social cohesion." Someone on the team has conceptualized (one dimension of) social cohesion as trust between people belonging to different ethnic and religious groups in a neighbourhood. Based on this, they have proposed that an appropriate measure of social cohesion is the extent to which people are willing to shop at the same grocery store as people from different ethnic and religious groups.
