B) Explain some of the reasons given during the Scientific Revolution for the utility of science.

C) What economic factors led to the inventions necessary for the Industrial Revolution? Did scientific theories play a role in these inventions? What are the main features of what McClellan and Dorn call "Industrial Civilization"?

D) How was theoretical science applied to engineering and industry in the late 19th century (during the Second Scientific Revolution)? How did this application differ from the relationship between science and technology during the Industrial Revolution?
