1. What is your name and age or age range (only if they want to share)? My name is Norma, and I am in my early 40s.
2. Are you married? Do you have children? Yes, I am married, and we have three beautiful children.
3. What is your education background? Where did you go to school and for how long? What degrees did you attain? I completed my high school education in Mexico before moving to the United States. I didn't have the opportunity to attend college, but I've always valued education and make sure my children have the best education opportunities.
4. Where do you work? What children do you serve? I am a stay home mom, so my work is primarily taking care of my children and managing our household.
5. How long have you been in this career (or been a parent)? I've been a parent for 18 years now, ever since my oldest child was born.
6. What is your personal/professional philosophy? My philosophy is to raise my children with love, respect, and discipline. I believe in teaching them importance of hard work, kindness, and education.
7. What is your best technique or 'trick" to use when working with children? Patience is my best technique when working with my children. I also find that maintaining a routine helps them understand what is expected of them.
8. What is the best part of your job/work (role as a parent) with children? What does a good day look like? The best part of my role as a parent is seeing my children grow and learn. A good day is when we've spent quality time together, and everyone is happy and healthy.
9. What is the worst part of your job/work (role as a parent) with children? What are your biggest challenges? The most challenging part is balancing the needs of all my children and making sure they each get the attention they deserve. It can be tough when they're all needing something at the same time.
10. Describe a success story or favorite story with children? A success story would be seeing my oldest child graduate high school and get accepted into college. It was a proud moment for our family.
11. What types of professional development (parent education) do you attend? I attend parent-teacher meetings and workshops offered by the local community center to stay informed about parenting and education trends.
12. Are you a member of any organizations related to special education? I am not a member of any organization related to special education.
13. How is your relationship with the parents of the children who you work (or interact) with? As a stay at home mom, I interact with other parents during school events and community activities. We have a supportive and friendly relationship.
14. How is your relationship with the community? I have a good relationship with my community. We participate in local events and support local businesses.
15. Is it all worth it? Absolutely, it's all worth it. The joy and fulfillment I get from raising my children cannot be measured.
16. What piece of advice would you tell someone wanting to work in this profession (or has a child with special needs)? My advice would be to have patience and always show love. Every child is unique and has their own and pace of learning. It's important to celebrate their individuality and support them in their journey.
