Figure 52 shows a valve that is operated by a worm gear and motor. Each turn of the worm gear moves the stem by 0.18 cm, and the total range of stem travel is 4.0 cm. The worm gear motor has three states: A TTL high to the up terminal causes rotation at 15 rpm that moves the valve stem up, a TTL high to the down terminal causes rotation to reverse, moving the valve stem down (closing the valve), and with TTL low to both terminals the motor is off. The valve body is equal percentage with a rangeability of 20 and a maximum flow of 0.6 m3/min.
a. How many rotations of the worm gear are required for the full stem travel?
b. How long does it take to move the stem over the full range of travel? What is the minimum flow rate?
c. What is the stem position for flow at 90% of the maximum?
A recent study has been carried out concerning radio propagation in railway tunnels. In this study, two railway tunnels of rectangular cross section are considered. Tunnel 1 has transverse dimensions of width a = 8 m
Thre identical impedances are connected to a 3 phase, 415 V, 50Hz Y connected supply, the load draws 21kW at a power factor of 0.82 lagging. Draw all possible wiring arrangements for the load connected to the Y-connected supply.
The resistance of the shunt field winding and the resistance setting of the shunt field rheostat of a separately excited generator are 10.26 ohm and 14.23 ohm respectively. The field circuit is connected to a 120-V DC source.
A shunt generator supplies a current of 85 A at a terminal p.d. of 380 V. Calculate the generated emf if the armature and field resistances are 0.4 Ω. and 95 Ω respectively.
Measurements taken on various resistors are shown below. For each, calculate the power dissipated in the resistor and the power rating necessary for safe operation using standard components with power ratings of 1/8 W, 1/4 W, 1/2 W, 1 W, or 2 W
Consider an RLC circuit with R = 5 Ohms, L= ½ H, C= 2/9 F and input voltage e(t) = exp(-t/2)a. Starting from KVL show that the DE for the voltage across R is given by: v'' + 10 v' + 9 v = -5 exp(-0.5 t) b. Find vc in terms of the arbitrary constants ..
A 3Φ transformer delivers 120 kVA to a 3Φ load from a 2400 V line-to-line source at unity power factor.- Calculate the current per line?
These other components were mostly off the shelf, but they had never been integrated into a system before. Does this meet the SSA requirement for an existing system?
The four alkaline battery cells store a total of 200 watt-seconds of energy. If the cassette player is drawing a constant 10mA from the battery pack, how long will the cassette operate at normal power
Sketch a CMOS SRAM cell and describe its operation. - Discuss any advantages and disadvantages of this design. - Describe how the cell is addressed.
A permanent magnet generator has Kt = 0:02Nm/A . The terminal voltage is six volts. It is spinning at 2500 rpm. It is connected to a load with a resistance of 30W. Determine the counter torque and the power input.
The fluid travels through a conduit of negligible resistance; an accumulator is included to smooth out the pulsations of the pump. A hydraulic load (modeled by a fluid resistance R) is connected between a pipe and a reservoir (assumed at zero pres..
