Suppose the worm gear of Figure 52 has a potentiometer attached as shown in Figure 53, so that the stem position is converted to resistance. A controller outputs a 4- to 20-mA signal, where 4 mA should correspond to minimum flow and 20 mA should correspond to maximum flow . Design a system so that comparators are used to activate the up or down terminals of the motor and drive the stem to the correct position required by the current. That is, suppose the controller outputs a current of 10 mA. This should cause the motor to move the stem to 1.5 cm.
(Hint: Convert the current to a voltage that is provided to two comparators.)
The reference terminals of the comparators have a voltage from a divider using the potentiometer connected to the worm gear. Be sure to include some hysteresis on the comparators.
The table in the IS-865 example in the text gives the SINR thresholds for using the various rates. What would the thresholds have been if capacity-achieving codes were used? Are the codes used in IS-856 close to optimal?
In a typical commercial electrical distribution system, which is more common: an inductive power factor, or a capacitive power factor. What is the most common technique used to correct this kind of low power factor.
Why do geothermal heat pump systems work better in cold climates than air-source systems?
Have the UP3 print a short ASCII message on the printer ending with an ASCII form or page feed to print the message on a page. A form feed may be needed to cause the printer to print since most printers store characters in an internal page buffer.
You have a computer with a 1 GHz processor (that executes each instruction in one clock cycle) and a memory system that always takes 50ns to access one word. How long does it take to execute the instruction a = b + c
If I go swimming, then I will stay in the sun too long. If I stay in the sun too long, then I will sunburn. Therefore, if I go swimming, then I will sunburn.
Let us assume that a synchronouse 3 phase alternator produces a no-load line voltage of 13.2 KV. if a load having a lagging power factor of 0.8 is connected to the machine, must the excitation be increased or decreased
How to control one lamp from six different places by using two, 2-way switches and four intermediate switches. ?
To prevent this, a device is placed across the solenoid (inductor) that can hold the voltage to a safe value, say 40V, during transients. If the activating current in the solenoid is 1 amp and its inductance is 100uH
The AM frequency band is centered at 1 MHz, and the bandwidth of each station is 10 kHz. - What order of magnitude do you estimate as the Q of many of the resonant circuits in AM radios?
Using synchronous Finite State Machine, design a sequential circuit that asserts a high output (Z) for exactly three clock pulses when an input button (B) is pushed (i.e. asserted). The circuit should stay idle with low output
An amplifier with 40 dB of small-signal open-circuit voltagegain, an input resistance of 1M-ohm ,and an output resistance10-ohm drives a load of 100-ohm .What voltage and power gains(expressed in dB) would you expect with the load connected
