A power plant generates steam from coal burning which burns at 3,000oF and produces about 13,000 BTU per pound. The steam is put into a poorly insulated turbine which allows 2,000 BTU per pound of coal to escape to the atmosphere at 90oF. Knowing the cooling water used is at 55oF what is the minimum amount of coal, in tons, needed to be used per hour needed to produce 667 MW?
