Case Study: Gianni was hired to work as a dental assistant in Daanann's dental office. Daanann admits that Gianni was a great dental assistant. Gianni in turn acknowledges that Daanann generally treated her with respect, and she believed him to be a person of high integrity. Gianni 's main job was to clean teeth. Day-after-day, patient after patient, she had to remind patients to floss between cleanings. She was getting sick and tired telling patients to floss. One night after work, Gianni went to a tattoo parlor and had "FLOSS!" tattooed on her forehead. Daanann complained to Gianni that her Tattoo was "distracting" and could offend his patients. Daanann called Gianni into his office. Daanann told Gianni he was terminating her employment, reading from a prepared statement. The statement said, in part, that her tattoo could become a detriment to his practice and that for the best interests of his business he was terminating her employment effective immediately. Daanann handed Gianni an envelope which contained one month's severance pay. Daanann replaced Gianni with another female without a face tattoo.
