Question: When Scion was 21 years of age, that his mental health problems were first noted. His parents thought he was struggling to adapt to life after college. He moved into an apartment with three other graduates, all starting their first professional job. Scion began to believe that others in the house were trying to sabotage him by turning off his alarm clock, dumping out his shampoo, and filling his mouthwash with poison. He also began to tell others around him that his mother was Whitney Houston. He even began to tell this to his own family. Scion indicated he was receiving phone calls telling him his roommates wanted to kill him, and that he must stay in his bedroom to be protected. At this time, he stopped attending work and stopped bathing. He also installed a bucket in his room and stopped using the apartment's bathroom entirely. Scion's family became so concerned they took him back home, but his mental experiences did not change and he eventually needed admission, as he would stay up into the early hours to 'protect his family from harm. Scion was not taking any other medications or substances during the times of these symptoms, and he was not diagnosed with any other medical condition which would explain these symptoms. Scion had not been diagnosed with any mental health conditions as a child, and the symptoms when he moved into his first apartment were the first of these symptoms noted for him. It has been 1 year since the onset of symptoms, and Brian's parents are still concerned as he continues to have odd thoughts and perceptions of his environment, and rarely leaves the home or his bedroom.
