A bicyclist is riding a bicycle on a flat road. The combined mass of the bicyclist and bicycle is = 110kg, the radius of each wheel is = 32.5cm, and the coefficient of rolling resistance between the tires and the road is = 0.245 cm. The pedaling power of the bicyclist is translated to the back wheel through the tension in the chain that is wrapped around a set of gears. What is , T the tension in the chain that allows the bicycle to maintain a constant velocity when the chain is on the gear with a radius = 3.75N? Consider the combined weight to be evenly distributed between the two wheels. The incline eventually levels out again, but the road surface becomes rougher. To maintain constant velocity, the bicyclist is able to return to the lower applied force from Part A ( = 3.65N) but must remain in the larger gear from Part B ( = 4.85cm). What is , the coefficient of rolling resistance on this road surface?
