An aeration system with a hydraulic retention time of 2.5 hours receives a flow of 0.2 MGD with BOD concentration of 150 mg/L. The suspended solids concentration in the aeration basin is 4,000 mg/L. a) Calculate the F/M ratio for this system. b) If sludge from this system is being wasted at a rate of 500 gal/day (1.5% solids dry weight, Specific Gravity of Sludge = 1.12), what is the approximate sludge age, ?c, in this system?
