2. What is disembedding (as described by Capek)? Under what conditions does it happen? Do you think Aldo Leopold's "Land Ethic" or the indigenous land ethics we've read about can challenge the negative consequences of disembedding and our current mode of organizing economy and society? 3. What is a "risk society"? What are the role of scientists and science in the risk society? What do you think Rachel Carson would have to say about the idea of a risk society based on her research that resulted in Silent Spring?
