Case Study: CellOne is a 24-hour 7-day-a-week cellphone repair business. It employs 2 technicians at all times of the day and night, who are all equally skilled at repairing cell phones. On average 12 customers come to the store to drop their broken cell phone per day. The coefficient of variation of the time between two customer arrivals is 1. At the store, broken cell phones are temporarily stored in a box until a technician is free to take a look at it. Once they have completed a repair, the technicians go to the box and start working on the cell phone which has been in the box for the longest amount of time. It takes on average 3 hours for a technician to fix a cellphone, but this number varies greatly (the standard deviation is 3 hours). Once a phone has been fixed, the customer is notified that it is ready for pickup.
Question 1. Over the long term, what is the average duration, in hours rounded to two decimal places if needed, that a cellphone remains in its box?
Question 2. Over an extended period, what is the average time interval, in hours and rounded to two decimal places if necessary, between a customer dropping off a phone and the phone being repaired and ready for collection?
Question 3. Over the long term, what is the average number of cell phones that will be in the box? Round to two decimal places if necessary.
