Problem

Twilight Zone The next layer, the mesopelagic, or twilight zone, reaches approximately 3,280 feet (1,000 m) deep. The light hardly penetrates the surface, so plants cannot survive in this zone. During the day, there is just enough light for a diver to see while swimming in the upper parts of this zone. Temperature changes the greatest in this zone from the surface. It can get down to a chilly 46 to 50° F (8-10° C). Animals must be able to handle cold temperatures. Some animals that live in the twilight zone are octopuses, squid, and hatchet fish. They have narrow or dark bodies and can hide easily from predators. Get the instant assignment help. The eyes on fish are larger and generally directed upwards so they can see the silhouettes of other animals for food against the dim light. Based on the passage, what does the word "silhouettes" most likely mean?
