Assessment Task 2: Case Study

This task will require access to and the use of:

  • Case study of Mariam;
  • Organisational policies and procedures; and
  • Relevant organisation documents.

Case Study: - Mariam

Questions

1. How can Mariam ensure that her personal goals, plans and activities align with the organization's goals? Use Microsoft Word for the template given below to develop two work plans to achieve the two goals you have prioritised.

2. What initiative can Mariam take to prioritize and facilitate the competing demands to achieve personal, team and organizational goals and objectives?

3. Pretend that you're Mariam and use the template provided in Appendix 1 to develop a professional development plan and an action plan. You should include:

a) How you will assess your personal knowledge and skills against competency standards such as enterprise specific competencies or nationally endorsed units of competency.

b) What new skills you aim to acquire to achieve or maintain a competitive edge over others.

Assessment Task 3: Role play

Role play instructions -

Continuing from Assessment 2, still pretending that you are Mariam, conduct a 5-10 minute role play with the help of your classmates and assessor considering the organization's policies, plans and procedures.

You must demonstrate/consider the following:

a) Serve as a positive role model through work planning and organisation.

b) Consider:

  • Your past and background;
  • Your short- and long-term professional goals;
  • Opportunities that are available to you now, or in the near future;
  • Financial and personal goals;
  • Your desired work-life balance; and
  • Your health.

c) On the basis of feedback you received you have to:

  • Conduct a systematic self-analysis of your performance;
  • Create a professional development plan; and
  • Identify networks you will participate in to enhance your knowledge and skills.

d) Consider the process you undertook in Assessment Task 2 to identify, evaluate and select the development opportunities in your professional development plan. Discuss various learning styles and how they may be applied to your future planning.
