Assignment:
Based on your weekly readings from the course and one recently published news article or journal article (i.e., within the past two years) that you find on your own, please answer the following questions:
1) Are modern parents doing a good job of raising their children?
This is a much trickier question than it appears at first glance. To respond, you need to ask yourself three crucial questions. First, what does it mean to be a "modern" parent? What challenges do modern parents face that make parenting uniquely difficult in the 21st century? What is the metric we use to define success as parents?
2) Refer back to the Week 1 discussion where you identified 2 or 3 parenting questions you wanted answered. Copy your questions into this discussion. Were your questions answered in this course? If yes, how? If not, how would you find the answers to your questions?
Discussion is below for reference:
In order to make this course relevant to your interests and needs, please identify 2-3 questions about parenting that you would like to have answered by the end of the course.
Answer: The questions that I got about parenting that I would have liked to have answered by the end of this course are:
- How do blended families tackle the challenges faced by merging two different parenting styles without argument?
- As a child struggles and falters in their adult life, who would be more at fault for their failures, the child or their parents?
- For a child to develop to their full potential, would it be best to just have one child or multiple?
