Assignment:

Daniel is three years old. Each morning when his mother drops him off at day care, she quickly places his backpack in his cubby, waves to the teacher, and hurries out. She frequently stops to look at her phone and furiously type text messages. The teacher often rushes over to speak to her because Daniel's mother is known for rushing in and out without speaking to teachers. The teacher is often too late to catch Daniel's mother or has difficulty getting her attention and distracting her from her phone. Daniel's mother usually tells him to have a good day and when Daniel cries, which is nearly daily, she tells him to be a big boy and play with the other kids.

Daniel usually quits crying soon after his mother leaves and begins to play with the other children. The teacher has to watch him, though. When he gets upset, he hits and bites the other children.
