Question No. 2
2) Phenomenological Community: Religious Group
Some may think of their religious group when asked about the phenomenological community they belong to. In what ways can a person's religious community affect their views on health? As a nurse, we will come in contact with people of various religious groups that do not align with ours. How do you not allow the differences to get in the way of effective care?

3) Within each community there are numerous factors that can affect someone's health. The public health nurse must consider geopolitical and phenomenological factors when developing health plans. Communities are separated by different boundaries such as zip codes, geography, climate, vegetation, culture, race, and ethnicities. "Certain health care conditions and disparities are more prevalent in locations with larger population size, density, and composition of characteristics" (Green, 2018). For instance, some communities have better access to sanitary water, have more economic resources, and have cleaner environments. For example, I currently live in San Diego. San Diego has a large population of homelessness. This has led to recent outbreaks in Hepatitis A within the San Diego county.
Nurses must consider these specific community factors when promoting health. Assessments of the community can lead to interventions to help break health barriers. "The community becomes the nurse's client-not a singular patient, but a group of people who interact and participate in the health and wellness of the community at large" (Green, 2018). The Public Health nurse uses the SWOT analysis to find community strengths, weakness, opportunities, and threats. For instance, if there is increase alcohol consumption within a community, a nurse may promote more alcoholics anonymous organizations within that community. Or if a nurse researches that obesity rates are higher within a community, the nurse can collaborate with local employments, organizations, or schools to offer exercise and nutrional programs. Not only do public health nurses work with other organizations locally they collaborate globally to intervene on community heatlh barriers by using research and data.

4)The geopolitical place is taken into account when assessing and includes evaluating the geographic location, structures, weather activity and animal life. Phenomenological place is a location that gives individuals a sense of belonging within a group. These groups can be centered on a historical event, cultural beliefs, education, or common characteristics (Green, 2018). Using geopolitical and phenomenological factors will help guide healthcare professionals to determine what population they are going to focus on and assess. They can help identify any health disparities, populations that are at risk, and what interventions the population requires. The nursing process is utilized when performing a community assessment because it helps the nurse identify subjective and objective information in a systematic method, which will allow them to better serve the needs of the selected population. During the assessment phase, the nurse can gather information from the people, the environment, and national, state or local resources. This information will allow for a better understanding of the population's strengths and weaknesses. This leads to nursing community diagnoses and planning can begin for the best evidence-based practice interventions tailored for that group (Green, 2018). Not using a organized approach can lead to missing vital information during the course of the assessment and can lead to an underserved population that is unable to benefit from the community health promotion plan.
