Question 01: You are a tutor for students of classes IX and X. You observe that while most of your students perform well in the class tests, 2-3 students do not. How would you enhance their performances in the tests?

Question 02: Think of a situation, on the job, when you think positive emotional stability would be necessary.

  • Apple
  • McDonald's
  • Facebook
  • Coca-Cola

Now, write down the points that you think are the strengths of these companies.

Why do you think people around the globe perceive these companies as number one brands?

Question 04: It has been raining heavily since early morning and there are severe storms as well. While many employees do not even try to get out of their homes, few others show up for work, like any other normal day. Why do you think there is this difference? Justify

Question 05: Visit a grocery store or a fast food outlet during its peak hours. Observe the coordination displayed among the employees and how they function as a group. What are the key points learnt, after such an observation? Can these groups become more cohesive? How?

Question 06: Suppose, you are a manager of an Event Management company. There is a well awaited Page 3 event coming up. The entire team is excited about it. Your senior has assigned you the responsibility of communicating the requirements, roles, functions, etc. to be performed, along with a large team of employees to carry out assigned tasks. What are the points to be kept in mind while communicating to your team, to ensure effective communication? Would you use any other form of communication other than downward communication? Why or Why not?

Question 07: Who are the two best leaders, according to you (In politics, the corporate world, sports, etc.)? What do you think differentiates them from their competitors? List down the most important qualities that you think, a leader must have?

Question 08: The CEO of your organization has decided to establish and execute a new company policy to avoid any kind of conflict, so as to increase the cooperation and coordination amongst the employees, and ensure that they are happier and work in peace. As a manager, do you feel that conflicts are necessary in an organization? Do you agree with this policy decided on, by your CEO? Why or Why not?

Question 09: It has been noticed that decades back, in organizations, there were narrow spans of control and they were successful. But today, it is organizations that have wide spans of control that are mostly successful. What do you think are the reasons for this change?

Question 10:"Change is an episodic activity. It has a beginning and an end." Do you agree with this? Why or Why not?

Question 11: Make a list of your most-preferred and least-preferred values. Make another list of the top three personally most-favored companies that you would like to work for. Now compare both the lists to understand John Holland's Theory of Person-Job Fit

Question 12: Complimenting, and giving verbal praises and recognition helps in retaining employees in organizations. If so, why do you think, managers don't do it often? Express your views.

Question 13: Today, e-mails are considered to be an important medium of communication within organizations. Do you think that the extensive use of e-mails by organizations has decreased the amount of information being exchanged through the corporate grapevine? Justify

Question 14: It is not necessary for a leader to be a manager. But, a manager must essentially be a leader. Do you agree with this statement? Why or Why not?

Question 15: You are working in the Human Resources department. There are two teams in the marketing department of your organization. Both the teams have been assigned different tasks. But, these teams are interdependent on each other, and have to work in coordination. As a manager, what strategies would you adopt, to maximize the mutual understanding and minimize the conflicts among both the teams?

Question 16: Company ABC is acquiring company XYZ. Both the organizations belong to separate industries. While ABC is a fast paced, innovative, and an entrepreneurial organization, XYZ is quite slow, and believes in engaging its employees in the decision making process to a great extent. What do you think would be the problems faced by both the organizations due to this acquisition? What would you recommend to reduce the amount of culture shock faced by the employees of company ABC and company XYZ?

Question 17: Many business leaders believe that it is necessary to stress the employees to derive best results from them. As a manager, do you believe in the same too? Why?
