Assignment:

We have been focusing on the narrative and law books of the Old Testament, which is where we learn of the various covenants that God establishes with His people. In the previous sessions, you have been working on sections of your Final Assignment, in which you are investigating more fully one of the following Old Testament covenants:

• Mosaic Covenant paper on your chosen covenant that addresses the following aspects of that covenant.
• Ancient Near Eastern context: What ancient Near Eastern parallels exist? How do they help us understand covenants in general and the covenant you have chosen in particular?
• Biblical context: Where in the story of Israel does this covenant occur? How does it build upon previous covenants? How does it lay the foundation for later covenants? And how does it relate to the overall story of Israel?
• Theological context: What are the major theological issues that are presented/developed within this covenant? How do they arise out of previous Scripture? And how are they developed in later Scripture?
• Practical context: How should Christians, in general, relate to the covenant you have chosen? And how does this covenant apply to your life and your ministry context in particular? (If you are not currently in a ministry context, how would you envision this covenant applying in a future ministry context.) Be sure to give specific applications of how this covenant in the Old Testament relates to the Christian life in the twenty-first century.
