Consequently, ANZ's interest expense is 2.35% and Westpac's interest expense is at 2.94%. These results will be a concern for Westpac because it may imply that the company could have trouble servicing its debt due to a high interest expense. As for non-interest expense, Westpac's non-interest expense 1.16% seems to have a lower result than ANZ's non-interest expense, 1.22%. Reason being, Westpac is not generating enough operating revenue from non-interest resources compared to ANZ which generates an increasing share of operating revenue.
Subsequently, looking at Westpac's net interest margin ratio at 2.11% which is less than ANZ's net interest margin at 2.44% indicates the investments strategies for ANZ are slightly better in comparison to Westpac which is slightly lower.Therefore the investment strategies made by Westpac costs more than how it produces. Westpac displaysearning base figure of 88.69% and 77.67% for ANZ. Moreover, the efficiency ratio measures how effectively a bank can utilise their assets, including how well the bank manages their liabilities. By comparing the efficiency ratio of ANZ and Westpac, the ratio of ANZ is 44.65% which is rather higher compared to Westpac which is 42.53% providing the audience the outcome in whichWestpac operates more efficiently than ANZ.
