Assessment - Comparative Report
You are required to write your own case study which describes a hypothetical client who has been exposed to trauma. The description of the client should include:
1. A brief description of the event that caused the trauma.
2. Key signs of trauma
3. Impact of trauma at different levels (e.g., emotional, social);
4. Ways the client has attempted to process or cope with the trauma
To successfully complete this assessment, you are required to outline two intervention plans in response to the case study that you have created. You are required to include the following components in your intervention plan:
1. The theoretical model of each intervention.
2. Specific goals informed by the case study.
3. Key techniques/strategies informed by goals.
4. Critical analysis of the strengths and limitations of each trauma related intervention.
You should refer to the marking criteria provided below to provide you with a framework for your writing. You must use APA 7th style for referencing and formatting of your work. Get Assignment Help from the World's Most Trusted Tutor Service Now!
Creating a Case Study
Creating a believable and nuanced case study requires a core understanding of the clinical presentation that you are representing as well as the impacts and effects upon the individual.
Please do not directly write a case history of yourself or someone you know!
This is a brief guide to assist with the process if you are unfamiliar with doing so. All case studies should contain the following:
Statement of Client
A brief statement outlining who the client is (e.g., age, gender)
Reason for Presentation
Why has the client attended counselling?
Brief Relevant Background
Some detail on the client's history of background which has led them to this point. Include relevant situational information such as culture, work, health status, family mental health history, family and social relationships, drug and alcohol history, life difficulties, goals, and coping skills and weaknesses.
Statement of Problem
How does the client perceive their problem?
Description of Impact
What current and/or past impacts has the client experienced based on their issues?
Tips for Creating a Case Study
To create a believable case study:
Imagine that they are a real person and not just words on a page. Give them a name, and personality.
Ask yourself questions about this person. For example, if you have written that they can no longer drive, then what does this mean for them? How do they cope? How do they get around not driving? How do other people react to them?
Ensure that they are three dimensional i.e., do not oversimplify their difficulty.
Give them both strengths and fallibilities/issues.
Give them relationships to others.
Read your case study out loud to someone else and see if they can picture the case
or if they question the client's motivations.
