A student heated 75.0mL of water in an aluminum container using the alcohol burner filled with methanol (CH3OH). The mass of the aluminum container was 44.5g. The initial temperature of the water was 16.5°C and the final temperature was 23.9°C. The initial mass of the alcohol burner was 113.54g and the final mass was 112.97g. Calculate the molar heat of the combustion of methanol. The specific heat capacities are C(aluminum)= 0.900J.g°C and C(H20) = 4.18J.g°C and the molar mass of methanol= 32.05g/mol.
