A conducting rod of mass m is sliding on frictionless conducting rails in a region that has a static, uniform magnetic field directed into the page as shown. The rails slope downward from the end with the resistor so that the rod of mass m slides down under the influence of gravity. Let the rod start at rest at t = 0. Calculate the velocity along the rails as a function of time for the sliding rod.
