Target has various promotional objectives that the company seeks to achieve as it practices marketing activities. The main objectives Target identifies itself with are to further brand awareness and to maintain existing or loyal customers. Being that the company has maintained it's existence for over a decade, evidently to acquire loyal customers is no longer in the forethought of Target's Marketing executives minds. Therefore to keep existing customers Target has established forms of reinforcement advertisements throughout media outlets. Despite being in the declining "Brick and Mortar," Retail Industry, Target continues to identity itself as an outlet of innovation, for instance by adding Starbuck Coffee Company within it's various store locations.
I believe that these objectives have indeed changed over the years, however not drastically. Almost all companies in one form or another can identify with maintaining brand recognition as well as keeping loyal customers. As any competitive company would, Target eventually changed its objectives in the attempt to remain relevant in the face of an ever evolving Industry, specifically in it's attempt to shift it's target market from older customers to slightly younger. Target now focuses much of it's advertising towards a younger population being equip with school supplies and other necessities in the attempt to develop it's market presence.
