1. Can you think of an example where the analysis of variance (ANOVA) can be used? How is ANOVA being used in the workplace, or how should it be used?
2. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) is used to determine if there is a difference between the means of different populations. This is an example from a student in Prescott Arizona.A company was trying to sell her the feed they produced by aiming that if her hens ate their feed, the hens would produce more eggs. They offered her a study to read in which they demonstrated that their feed was the best. To support this, they conducted an experiment in which they fed four different types of food, including their own, to groups of hens. They wanted to show that on average hens that ate their food produced more eggs. They used analysis of variance. Can you think of a business-related example in the financial industry? can you think of any specifically related to operations management?
2. What are the differences between one-way and two-way ANOVA?
4. What are examples in which non-parametric tests are used to analyze business related problems in general, and more specifically, problems related to marketing?
5. How should surveys be constructed to facilitate collecting data to perform non-parametric tests?
Suppose they solicit 400 customers one day, and find that 250 of them have a Grayson's card. Assume that 60% of all Grayson's customers have a discount card, what is the probability of getting a sample proportion of at least 250 / 400=0.625?
In a bag there are 20 marbles. The colors of the marbles are as follows: red - 5; blue - 8; green - 3; yellow - 4.
The mayor of a small town would like to know whether a local bond issue is likely to pass or not. He mails a survey to 500 randomly selected voters.
Compute the mode, median and mean for the college students and compute the mode, median and mean for the parents' data
Carry out suitable multiple comparison procedure to determine the source of the difference.
At the heart of quantitative research is regression analysis. A regression model simply measures the association of two variables - variation: the dependent variable's observed value
Clearly identify the independent and dependent variables you would study. Determine whether an independent-samples or related-samples t test is most appropriate and why. Generate the statistical null and alternative hypotheses.
A computer is used and it is found that the P-value = 0.0016. What can you state about the sample (independent or dependent) and what can you conclude about the evidence?
How many subsets of S contain either the number 6 or the number 15?
Explain the difference between the null and alternative hypothesis. Which one can be proven in a statistical sense?
If 200 passengers take this flight, find the binomial and Poisson probability of no platinum flyers (round your answer to 4 decimal places).
