Question 1:

In undertaking the group problem solving project the use of theory, tools and techniques was emphasised. Why was this emphasis important, what do theory, tools and techniques provide in creating a real and valuable solution to the problem? In presenting your answer, reflect on your own project and use this reflection and insight to demonstrate your understanding.

Question 2:

This course emphasised "Synthesis" the 'why' and the 'how' over "Analysis" which is the traditional Western focus of breaking the whole into parts and then expecting these subsets to represent reality. Reflecting on your learning from the course answer the question "How do innovative organisations that thrive on employee engagement and empowerment use synthesis as an everyday strategy to overcome the limitations of purely looking at the world through analysis?" In reflecting on this question draw on material from organisations like SAS and Semco and theorists like, Senge, Deming, Ackoff, Covey and others that resonated with you during the course.
