A study was conducted using 139 undergraduates at a large private university who volunteered to participate in the research. One of the items studied was the maximum daily amount of alcohol consumed in the last month. In a sample of 54 men, the average daily quantity of alcohol consumed was 8.2 oz. with a standard deviation of 5.9 oz. For 85 women in the study, the average daily consumption was 5.6 oz. with a standard deviation of 5.7 oz. You want to answer the question: Do males consume more alcohol than women, on average, in one day in the past month, at a significance level of 0.05.
