Let's take a look at some other types of conflict in the workplace.  Workplace violence by some is considered a conflict and others classify it as workplace violence.  I've dealt with some extreme 'workplace violence' in the last 20 years and based on my personal experiences I've never hesitated to act immediately.  In leadership positions you must always be prepared to deal with the topic before an situations, while a situations occurs and after an act.
