Description: You are required to analyse the financial statements of a company listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) BHP Group Limited, and to write a report based on the results of your analysis. The company will be allocated to your group by the subject coordinator. The analysis will require some research and the use of information sources besides the company's financial statements.

Your report must contain each of the following six sections:

1. Executive summary

2. Introduction (company background, including industry history & performance)

3. Valuation (using 3 methods most relevant to the company) & Reverse Engineering(using DCF, price earnings: earnings growth analysis and asset based valuation)

4. Ratio analysis

5. SWOT analysis

6. Recommendation

7. References

Detailed Information - The main purpose of this case study is to help students develop analytical and communication skills.

The case study will involve the analysis of the financial statements of an ASX Listed company named BHP Group Limited, which will be allocated to each individual by the subject coordinator. Students are expected to analyse accounting and financial information contained in the financial statements with regard to the quality of earnings, the strength/weakness of financial performance, the viability of strategies (if provided in the statements), and any issues the firm needs to focus on.
