Question: 1) Suppose that the frequency distribution of daily high temperatures in a city are normally distributed with a mean of 60 degrees. Suppose that roughly one day every two years has a high temperature of 90-degrees or warmer. If this is the case, what is the approximate standard deviation of daily high temperatures? 2) Suppose that the frequency distribution of daily high temperatures in a city are normally distributed with a mean of 60 degrees. If approximately 9 days in a year have a daily temperature of 100 degrees and above, then what is the standard deviation of daily high temperatures? These questions are very similar, and I wonder how to find approximate standard deviation without a data set? The only information from the question is the mean and the highest temperature. Are the days mentioned in the question matters to find the answer? By how?
Write the null and alternative hypotheses and analyze the data using PROC TTEST, and turn in the printout. From this, you will first have to test if the population variances are equal.
Clearly state your hypothesis and conclusions.
