Hotel Chocolat needs to understand the basic approaches to ethical decision-making because they aspires to be an ethical business by running its chocolate operations in St Lucia and Ghana. They must build a culture based on values by having a code of ethics, implementing this training for employees and rewarding ethical behaviors. There are four basic approaches to ethical decision-making the utilitarian, moral rights, universalism and justice approach. Hotel Chocolat strategies used like teaming up with the local government to run training workshops for farmer groups. They also committed to buy their cocoa above the world market rate so it enhances its ethical practices. Hotel Chocolat also acknowledges the growing importance consumers are placing on the sourcing of their food, their websites highlights the importance of customer feedback in building up its ethical business. They rejected Fair Trade accreditation in order to control its own ethical standards. They also highlight that the company does. to promote ethicalness solely as a marketing tool. Hotel Chocolat also plans to establish a eco-tourism through a hotel and factory tour in St Lucia. All of these are strategies they have used to enter into new foreign markets.
