A friend of mine is a chemical toxicologist and works in the area of testing blood and urine for the presence of drugs. There are methods to mask the presence of certain drugs. For example, drinking mouthwash just prior to a test can affect the test for the presence of alcohol. Some businesses are built on helping people beat the detection of drugs in the blood (see, for example, https://howpassadrugtest.com/measures-to-beat-a-drug-test.html). Many times this friend is called into court to serve as an expert witness as to whether a drug for an officer was present in their system. The methods of statistical analysis are critiqued. The sample size is reviewed. Suppose this expert witness was hired to prosecute you for presence of drugs in your system. What level of significance would you require be used in these tests? Why?
