You are interested in whether the average lifetime of Duracell AAA batteries is less than the average lifetime of Energizer AAA batteries. You lay out your hypotheses as follows: Null Hypothesis: μ1 ≥ μ2, Alternative Hypothesis: μ1 < μ2 (Duracell = Group 1, Energizer = Group 2). You perform an experiment on 23 randomly selected Duracell AAA batteries and 48 randomly selected Energizer AAA batteries and test them using a battery drainer. The Duracells had an average lifetime of 18.67 hours (SD = 1.176 hours) while the Energizer batteries had an average lifetime of 16.83 hours (SD = 2.878 hours).
