There are two primary sources of innovation which are administrative and technological according to Daft (1978) dual-core model of innovation. “Each core is a center of innovation with its own employees, tasks, and domain. Innovation can be initiated and adopted in either core. The dual-core approach identifies two distinct processes associated with organizational innovation and change. The original research examined differences in innovation type—technical and administrative—and the initiation of each type of innovation within organizations” Each core plays a distinct role in the innovation process, with initiatives originating at each end of the organization's hierarchy. For an organization like Apple, the innovative process started from Steve Jobs creative ideas, from initial conception to the iPhone.
