Respond positively to this colleague's post below by explaining how your colleagues' strategies address diversity considerations. "According to Foster (2022) when selecting board members, some of his recommendations is that the board is diverse, has access and influence, and can help raise money. According to Tschirhart and Bielefeld (2012), the board is expected to oversee the executive director, set and protect the nonprofit's mission, ensure that laws are followed, and decide what strategies will effectively achieve its mission and realize its vision. They also mentioned that the the legal standards for nonprofit boards are duty of care, loyalty, and obedience. I have not had the experience of working as a Board Member; however, I have worked as a staff member in an NPO organization, in this organization, most clientele were individuals from a low socioeconomic background, Latinx, and undocumented. One of my professional goals is to establish and/or work with an organization that works with this population. With that sai,d my main concern is related to the diversity among the members of the board and how they approach issues related to specific communities. Dickey (2023) states.
