Strategic planning in healthcare requires a shift in perspective because the service provider must make decisions and strategize like a modern business person. Health care professionals have often approached management like a service provider would approach a patient.

They identify a symptom or problem and make a diagnosis or analysis and recommend a treatment or plan. Like it said in our book the first and most important consideration when developing a strategic plan is to define the vision of the organizations or any specific unit of the organization.
