An electrochemical cell is formed by placing Pt electrodes in two separate beakers connected by a salt bridge. One beaker (1) contains 0.010 M SnCl2 and 0.10 M SnCl4 in 1 M HCl and the other (2) contains 0.010 M Ce2(SO4)4, 0.010 M Ce2(SO4)3 and 1 M H2SO4. Temperature, 25 oC.

a) Using standard notation (slashes represent phase boundaries...), write the representation of the cell.

b) Write the half-cell reactions.

c) Write the cell reaction that occurs if the two Pt electrodes are shorted together.
