You are working on an expiriment with a newly discovered enzyme. This enzyme works most efficienly at a pH of 5.70. You make 250mL of a 150 mM acetate buffer (pKa=4.76), pH 5.70. The stock concentrations of the acetic acid and sodium acetate used to make the buffer are 1 M for each.

a) Was this buffer a good choice for this reaction? Explain

b) What is the concentration of the acid and base form of acetic acid when you start the experiment?

c) In the process of the enzyme catalyzed reaction, 5mM H+ is produced. What is the pH of the solution after the reaction is complete?
