An unlabeled bottle contains an unknown potassium halide salt, KX. A student must determine the identity of the salt be using freezing point depression data. Because KX is a strong elextrolyte, one mole of KX yields two moles of ions in solution. The student finds that when 1.13 g of the unknown salt is dissolved in 24.65 g of distilled water, the freezing point of the resulting solution is -1.01 degrees celcius. The freezing point of hte distilled water is determined to be +0.02 degrees celcius.
a). calculate the freezing point depression for the solution
b). calculate the molality of the solution
c). calculate the molar mass of the unknown salt
d). given that the salt is a potassium halide, KX, identify X, the halide ion
Calculate the molarity of each of the following solutions 20.0 g NaCl in 1.0 L H2O
Help me understand specifically why the dissociated phosphate ion would prefer to bond with cations like Al and Zn. I think I know why but help me better understand.
In a titration of HNO3, you add a few drops of phenolphthalein indicatior to 50.00 mL of acid in a flask. You quickly add 20.00 mL of 0.143 M NaOH but overshoot the end point
The molality of sodium nitrate solution us 1.44m. What is mole fraction of NaNo3. The molar mass of NaNo3 is 85.06g/mol
Show the full mechanism of bromination for both 2,4-nitrophenol
The water level in the Carbon dioxide collection cylinder is higher than the water(H2O) level outside the cylinder. Is the wet carbon dioxide gas pressure greater or less than atmospheric pressure.
A solution is prepared by mixing 75.0 mL of 0.030 M BaCl2 and 250. mL of 0.040 M K2SO4. What are the concentrations of barium and sulfate ions in this solution? Assume only SO42- ions (no HSO4-) are present.
Three compounds are to be separated using HPLC. Compound A and Compound B have the same polarity but are more polar that Compound C. Compound A and Compound C have the same molecular weight (5000), and Compound B has a molecular weight of 26,000.
Suppose that you have 1.55grams of nitroglycerin( also known as nitroglycerine, trinitroglycerin, trinitroglycerine) in a 603.0 mili litres of steel container at 20 degree celsius and one atm pressure.
Halogenated compounds are particularly easy to identify by their mass spectra because chlorine and bromine occur naturally as mixtures of two abundant isotopes
If the pressure increases to 800. torr, how many moles of gas were added to the container? Assume a constant-volume container.
