Question: Assume if you start a meal through eating a high-fat slice of cake or ice cream, it could slow down the emptying of your stomach contents into your intestine. If you eat a meal on top of that dessert, you'll have an overly full stomach and will feel uncomfortable for a long time. That's probably why most people leave eating dessert until the end of the meal, so the earlier courses of the meal can exuent.
