Soldier of fortune, an organization which actively permits former US combat servicemen to serve as mercenaries abroad, entered into a contract w Blackwater INC. (a US corp which provides private contracors to the US military in Ira and afghanistan) these private contractors are motivataed by profit (they are paid significantly more than US soldiers in the US military performing the same job) One of these contractors who was recruited by soldier of fortune was captured and is charged as a mercenary in violation of article 47 of the 1977 protocol 1 of the geneva convention on armed conflict. WHAT DEFENSES COULD THE CAPTURED contractor assert?
