Assignment - Inclement Weather Plan

Overview:

Inclement weather is a factor that will impact all levels of sport, and it is important to plan for as much as possible. You'll never be able to plan for everything, but it is important to plan for weather systems that are most likely to impact your facility. Weather does not just impact outdoor facilities/activities, but also indoor facilities/activities. For example, if a hurricane effects an area, is the facility going to be used as a shelter, i.e. the Superdome in New Orleans after Hurrican Katrina.

Instructions:

• Pick a location and discuss why you selected this location.
o This is the location you will be using to determine types of weather that could impact the area.
• Discuss four potential weather threats (i.e. blizzard, thunderstorm, hurricane, tornado, rain, etc.)
o How does it impact the facility?
• Create a plan for each threat. Be sure to answer the following questions:
o Who will be the decision maker? (individual or group)
o When will decisions be made about activities?
o How will information be communicated to participates?
o Will the facility we used as a shelter?

Requirements:

• Submit your assignment as an APA-formatted Microsoft Word document
• The body of your paper should be a minimum of 4 pages in length, with additional title and reference pages.
• Include at least three (3) resources to support your decisions.
• All resources used must have an in-text citation in accordance with the most current APA style.
