"Superior Performance of Blind Compared with Sighted Individuals on Bimanual Estimations of Object Size," published in Psychological Science in 2005, reports that researchers suspected the ability to correctly estimate the size of an object using your hands with your eyes closed is related to whether you are blind or sighted. Blind and sighted individuals (24 of each) were blindfolded, then asked to indicate with their hands the dominant dimension of various familiar objects, like a package of spaghetti or a block of cheese. The t statistic for comparing actual to estimated sizes was 1.01 in the case of blind subjects and 8.52 in the case of sighted subjects.20
a. One of the P-values was reported to be less than 0.001 and the other was 0.32. Which was the P-value for the blind individuals?
b. Were estimates significantly different from actual sizes for the blind subjects, or the sighted subjects, or both, or neither?
