Experimental:

First, to start the experiment those materials are required; Calorimetry, Coffee cup, Balance, beaker, weighing boat, 12g of NH, 24g CaCl, Stop watch, and 50mL of distilled water. However, all results needed to be written on the given table which contains the initial temperature, final temperature, mass of the solution, and time. We have added the NH4Cl to the water, and started the stop watch. The temperature of the water was decreasing, the water is becoming cold. In the second part, When CaCl2 was added to the water. The results shows that the temperature start to increase.

Part 1 (NH4Cl)

• Set up the solution from the lab
• Weigh it and make sure it is near 12.000g
• If the solution had more mass make sure the taken waste should be returned to the waste container not the solution bottle.
• Record the initial temperature of the water.
• Add the solution to the 50mL of water
• Put the calorimetry to determine the initial and fmal temperature of the solution in the water.
• Record Temp every 15 seconds for 180 seconds.
• Start the stop watch, record the time taken for the reaction.
• All records should be written in the results table.
• Use the equations to fill the last table for each solution.

Part 2 (CaCl2)

• Set up the solution from the lab
• Weigh it and make sure it is near 24.000g
• If the solution had more mass make sure the taken waste should be returned to the waste container not the solution bottle.
• Record the initial temperature of the water.
• Add the solution to the 50mL of water
• Put the calorimetry to determine the initial and fmal temperature of the solution in the water.
• Record Temp every 15 seconds for 180 seconds.
• For the stop watch, record the time taken for the reaction.
• All records should be written in the results table.
• Use the equations to fill the last table for each solution.
