Question 1.

With the recent turmoil regarding allegations of a "stolen election" each State's Secretary of State has come under more scrutiny. Since the Secretary of State is responsible for the ensuring a fair (and smooth) election process, should this person have previous experience in running an election?

Question 2.

Currently, Nevada Supreme Court justices are elected by the public. Should the public be responsible for such a weighty decision? Does the public know the legal requirements and history of each candidate for the NV Supreme Court? Does it even matter what the public knows/don't know since this is an example of direct democracy?

Question 3

A large majority of politicians has a legal background. Is this necessary in order to participate in the legislative branch? What if these elected officials previously served in the judicial branch? Should that disqualify them from holding elected office?

Question 4

The State Supreme Court is housed in the capital Carson City. Since the majority of the Nevada population live in Las Vegas & the majority of NV Supreme Court cases involve parties who reside in southern Nevada, should the judicial branch be moved to Las Vegas or should it remain in Carson City?

Question 5

Some state and local government employees serve as elected officials. One would think that serving simultaneously in both the executive and legislative branch would be forbidden especially if the legislative branch considers legislation to increase pay/benefits of executive branch personnel. Do you think someone should be allowed to serve in both capacities?

Question 6

How do you think Nevada should address the current water crisis? Should the executive branch negotiate with the other States? Or should we use the judicial branch to litigate and decide this matter? Will the legislative branch be able to make the necessary laws to address this? Will these laws have any effect on water use in our neighboring states?
